The Coast off the Indian Ocean and the country’s wildlife parks are the common tourist attractions in Kenya.
The Kenyan Coast has a defined cultural history mainly for the Arabic influence here which spawned the Swahili language. At the coast you can see; traditional Swahili towns and communities, historic buildings or visit the white sandy beaches.
Kenya’s game parks contain a rich array of wildlife including birds and animals in their natural habitat. These parks offer a unique safari experience which many visitors return for.
The major game parks include; the Tsavo which is the largest in the country, Aberdare, Masai Mara and Amboseli.

Running horizontally dividing the country into two almost equal parts is the Great Rift Valley. Along the Rift Valley you will find many of the country’s lakes famous for the bird populations. Popular lakes are Lake Baringo and Lake Nakuru known for its flamingos.
In the central parts of the country is Mount Kenya with its three highest peaks namely; Batian, Nelion and Lenana. It is also home to the Mount Kenya National park.
The main attractions in the western regions are;
Lake Victoria: the second largest fresh water lake in the world which is shared between; Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
The Kakamega Forest: a unique remnant of natural rainforest, this reserve is popular for its bird species.
Mount Elgon: this is the second highest mountain in the country lying on the Kenya-Uganda border in the district sharing the same name.
To the north of the country there are mostly desert and semi-desert lands and the Lake Turkana; a freshwater lake part of the Mount Kulal special biosphere.
