Beverages:
Tea or Chai is the beverage of choice around Kenya. The tea is made by brewing tea leaves in boiling water and some milk. This produces a rich tasting morning drink unlike the tea bag kind.
Kericho in the Rift Valley province is the leading tea growing region in the Country. Kenya exports a fair amount of tea to European markets.
Coffee or Kahawa is also available though not as popular as tea. Kenya is a leading producer and exporter of Coffee but buying processed coffee within the country is surprisingly quite expensive.
Soft drinks and water:
Popular soft drinks are available in most parts of the country though in certain places you may be hard pressed to find a cold one. Brands available include; coke, fanta, sprite and krest bitter lemon which can be very refreshing. These are usually sold in glass bottles and cans which are only available at some supermarkets.
There is a range of bottled mineral water available though this used to be a bit expensive. The coca cola company recently introduced its own brand of affordable mineral water which has quickly become a favorite called dasani.
